Welcome to Wingfield Counselling
Hello, my name is Anthony and I offer face-to-face counselling sessions which last for an hour.
The type of counselling I provide is from an integrative approach particularly incorporating Person-Centred, Relational Psychodynamics and Art Therapeutic modalities. This will take place within a safe, confidential, accepting and non-judgmental space.
Together, we will try to make sense of what's brought you to counselling, part of which will include exploring your past, present and future. The emphasis will tend to be on how your various relationships influence, and have influenced, some of your choices, ways of coping and present situation. I will say a little more about how we will work together when we meet. Generally, I will not be giving you any homework or advice.
There is no limit to the number of sessions I offer, however to ensure I continue meeting your needs, I will periodically check in with you to see how you're experiencing the counselling process. Each person's life story and needs are completely different so it's difficult to set a definite time-frame; but ultimately you're in control of how long therapy lasts. You're also entirely free to end counselling at any time, and I will be sensitive to this aspect of the therapeutic process.
A little about me
I started my working life as a Graphic Designer, qualified as an Art Teacher, and then became a Print Production Manager with a team of designers and copy-writers. In 2011, I started volunteering at Samaritans and later at MIND which culminated in me becoming a qualified counsellor. I then became Lead Counsellor for the Newport Community Counselling Service (NCCS), and later Lead Counsellor at the South Wales Counselling and Psychotherapy service (SWCAP) before setting up Wingfield Counselling.
I have experience of working with issues such as loneliness, loss, anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, bullying, anger, loss, work-related matters including redundancy and relational conflict, stress, marital conflict, sexual abuse, domestic violence, suicidal ideation, war-related experiences, rape, pornography, those having suffered childhood neglect, psychosis, auditory hallucinations, boarding-school issues and faith-based concerns.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their Ethical Framework which can be found at www.bacp.co.uk
